World Malaria Day 2024: Malaria is a disease that is caused by mosquito bites. Shivering cold and high fever are the main symptoms of malaria. Malaria is extremely common in tropical and subtropical countries. However, it is also possible to prevent malaria. Every year World Malaria Day is celebrated to raise awareness about the prevention measures against malaria and what we can do to ensure that we do not fall prey to this disease. Every year World Malaria Day is celebrated on 25 April. This year this special day is on Thursday.

History:

African governments have been celebrating Africa Malaria Day since 2001. In 2008, Africa Malaria Day was changed to World Malaria Day at the 60th session of the World Health Assembly. World Health Organization, They decided that the world needs to be more aware and vigilant about measures to prevent malaria and mosquito bites. Therefore, this day started being celebrated every year.

“This World Malaria Day 2024, we unite under the theme – Intensifying the fight against malaria for a more equitable world. This theme, which is in line with this year’s World Health Day theme – My Health, My Right , underscoring the urgent need to “address the serious inequities that exist in access to malaria prevention, detection and treatment services,” said Saima Wajed, WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia, on the World Health Organization’s official website.

World Malaria Day urges people to come together to help stop the spread of this disease. It also creates a platform for international partners, companies and foundations to showcase their efforts to eliminate the disease and contribute to better health care infrastructure.
