South Korea’s parliament voted this month to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol over his short-lived martial law declaration.

The National Assembly passed the resolution on Saturday by a vote of 204-85.

Presidential powers of Yun And the duties will be suspended after copies of the document on impeachment are handed over to him and the Constitutional Court.

The court has up to 180 days to decide whether to remove Yoon from the presidency or restore his powers. If he is removed from office, national elections must be held within 60 days to choose his successor.
