Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) will deliver Sniper Advanced Targeting PodA sale to Poland (ATP) would improve the security of a NATO ally that is “a force for political stability,” the US State Department said.
Targeting systems for Poland were recently included in a US Foreign Military Sales contract to Lockheed Martin worth $90.68 million. Poland will receive Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods with two-way datalink, system support and spare parts.
The targeting-sensor system will be integrated into Poland’s new FA-50 fighter jet. Lockheed Martin already equips Polish F-16s with sniper ATPs.
The integration of the sniper ATP will improve the tactical effectiveness of Poland’s FA-50s, increasing their ability to identify, track and attack targets from standoff distances.
The Sniper ATP will also enhance interoperability with US and NATO forces, US State Department said If the sale is approved in 2023.
The Sniper ATP provides pilots with precision targeting and unmatched imagery for non-traditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
In the future, the sniper pod for Poland’s FA-50 and F-16 fighter aircraft can be quickly upgraded to a new version, Sniper Networked Targeting PodWhich was announced by Lockheed Martin in July. When upgraded with advanced datalink and radio technology, the sniper pods will enable unprecedented interoperability for fourth-generation aircraft, the new F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft and ground-based artillery systems such as HIMARS.
