When the air of the capital is filled with classical sounds, it must be the ultimate end of the year. Because this is the time when the annual event, the Delhi Classical Music Festival, makes its debut amidst the noise of a jam-packed cultural calendar. This time, it returns to enthrall music lovers with a line-up that includes renowned artistes who will present vocal and instrumental performances.
“I will sing thumri and maybe even bhajans; The audience will select the raga after watching,” says Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, who will take the stage on the first day. Having performed in the city on several occasions, he shared, “The Delhi audience is much better than before… This could be my 65th concert in Delhi and now I feel the audience is very responsive and involved “
On the inauguration day, there will also be a presentation of classical singing by Ojesh Pratap Singh and Rindana Rahasya. After this, there will be concerts of Kashish Mittal (singer), Satyajit Talwalkar (tabla solo) and Deborshi Bhattacharya (singer) on the second day.
Padmashree Shubha Mudgal will spread the magic of her melodious voice on the concluding day. “Whether I am performing or going as part of the audience, I always see a large audience at this event, which has been around for decades,” says Mudgal. He further adds, “ ‘If I remember correctly, it was called that before. Indraprastha Mahotsav, and I remember performing for one of its early editions. From bhajans to protest poetry, I have showcased many genres here.
Rakesh Pathak, assistant secretary (dance and music), Sahitya Kala Parishad, says, “The objective behind this event is to make Delhi known not only as the political capital of the country but also as the art and music capital.” Be developed.” which is organizing the festival.
